Biddeford ? Reconstruction of Route 1/Elm Street in Biddeford begins on Monday, September 24th. Crews will begin full reconstruction beginning approximately 500 ft. north of the Biddeford Connector (Grayson Street) extending north on Route 1 approximately one-half mile to Beaudoin Avenue.
Alternating one-way traffic will occur between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Two-way traffic will be maintained between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Night work is not anticipated.
Brown Industrial Group of Berwick will be reconstructing the roadway, as well as shoulder work, granite curb installation, paving the sidewalks and making drainage improvements. The paved shoulders will improve traffic safely, while work on the sidewalks will improve pedestrian safety.
Crews will continue to work through the fall. In the spring of 2013, the project will resume, with an anticipated completion date of early July.
