Starting the week of September 20, Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) bridge maintenance crews will begin work to replace part of the wearing surface on the MCRR Overpass Bridge on Route 1-A in Dedham.
The MCRR Overpass Bridge carries Route 1-A over railroad tracks just easterly of Phillips Lake in Dedham. The work will involve repair of a cracked wearing surface on the westbound lane of the bridge. The structure is wide enough that workers will be able to maintain two-way traffic while the repairs are being performed. The speed limit will be reduced to 40 miles per hour, and variable message signs will be in place to alert motorists to the construction activities.
It is currently anticipated that the repairs will be completed by mid-October. MaineDOT officials appreciate the patience of residents and motorists while this work is being done, and as always, request that motorists observe all signage and exercise extra caution while traveling in the work area.
