South Bristol ? The South Bristol Gut Bridge project has been suspended as scheduled until mid-September, 2015.
The temporary traffic lights and one lane of alternating traffic within the project limits were removed today (Wednesday, June 17). While it is currently back to a two lane traffic pattern, there is a temporary barrier and an unpaved roadway as this area is still a construction zone. Motorists should remain cautious and adhere to the posted 15mph speed limit.
The contract to build The Gut Bridge was awarded to Cianbro Corporation of Pittsfield on June 30, 2014. Their bid for the project came in at $10,995,622. The project includes the bridge replacement and construction of an operator?s house, new traffic warning systems, and some approach work.
The contract completion date is November 15, 2016, though MaineDOT is optimistic that it will be completed during the summer months.
