Sewall?s Bridge in York to Close

York ? Crews will be closing the Sewall?s Bridge which spans the York River starting on Tuesday, October 16th for approximately one year. This bridge replacement project is necessary because the Sewall?s Bridge has reached the end of its current service life.

An approximate four mile signed detour route will help direct motorists for the duration of the replacement project.

The new bridge will replicate the features of the existing structure using new composite materials to better facilitate the process and extend its lifespan. Features include 13 pier structures with a 30 ft. navigational channel opening for marine traffic. The new bridge will be 251 ft. long, with a construction cost of $3.37 million.

Reed and Reed, Inc. of Woolwich will perform this work.
