PENOBSCOT AND PISCATAQUIS COUNTIES - The Maine Department of Transportation is doing paving work and making safety improvements along Route 23 between Dexter and Sangerville. The work area starts approximately 1.25 miles north of Lake Wassookeag in Dexter and extends for approximately 4.75 miles, ending about one mile south of the Grant Road in Sangerville. Drivers should expect areas of alternating, one-lane traffic. Those areas will not exceed 4,000 feet, but there may be multiple closures happening at the same time. The contractor on this project is Northeast Paving of Hermon. The total project cost is $3,056,404. We expect this project to be complete by September 21st.
