Route 1 Southbound Off-Ramp In Brunswick To Close For Two Weeks

The Route 1 southbound off-ramp at Maine Street in Brunswick will be closed starting Monday, June 13 as construction crews begin work on the off-ramp that will include installing a new left-hand turn lane and traffic signals. The ramp is expected to be closed for two weeks, and motorists should expect delays on Maine Street during the construction.

Crews will maintain one lane of traffic in each direction along Maine Street during the construction. However, when crews pave the new ramp, there will be short periods of time when there will be one-way, alternating traffic regulated by flaggers.

While the off-ramp is closed, there will be a signed detour that utilizes Route 196 and the Merrymeeting Bay Bridge. Construction hours are scheduled from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. A. H. Grover of North Yarmouth is the contractor for the project.
