Road and Intersection Improvements Begin on Routes 3 and 230 in Trenton

Trenton ? Significant road and intersection improvements are underway for Routes 3 and 230 in Trenton. The $2.3 million project was awarded to K&K Excavation, Inc. from Turner, Maine.

In anticipation of construction, tree clearing on Route 230 and Route 3 is scheduled to begin on Thursday, August 16th and continue for three or four days. There may be occasional lane closures. Reconstruction of Route 3 begins with drainage installation on Sunday, August 19.

In order to minimize traffic impacts, MaineDOT has scheduled the work on Route 3 during overnight hours, beginning at 8 PM. All area businesses will be open and accessible during normal business hours. Motorists should allow extra time.

The project includes reconstruction of one-tenth of a mile of Route 230 and six-tenths of a mile of Route 3 in the vicinity of Route 230 in Trenton. To improve safety and traffic flow, the intersection of Routes 230 and 3 has been redesigned to include a new traffic signal and turning lanes.

It is anticipated that this work will continue through mid-November and then resume in the spring. After Columbus Day weekend, construction on Route 3 and 230 may take place during the day. All construction activity is weather-dependent so the schedule may change.
