Peru/Mexico ? MaineDOT will be implementing a detour around the Peru/Mexico Bridge beginning on Monday, June 25th. The duration of the detour is estimated at 7 days.
This detour is to allow PanAm Railways to raise the railroad tracks approximately two-feet in the alignment of the new bridge.
During the detour, traffic will be re-routed onto Route 108, the Veterans Memorial Bridge (next to the Rumford mill), and Route 2. This detour is approximately 8.5 miles so motorists should plan accordingly.
Please Note that North Main Street will be open to local traffic for access to homes and businesses on the Peru side via Route 108. Access to the bottle redemption center on the Mexico end of North Main Street will also be maintained via Route 2.
All businesses will remain open and accessible.
It is anticipated the detour will end by Monday, July 2nd.
