ANDROSCOGGIN AND SAGADAHOC COUNTIES - The Maine Department of Transportation will be doing pavement preservation work and making safety improvements on Route 196 in Topsham, Lisbon, and Lewiston. Work is scheduled to begin on May 5th. The total project area stretches about 12.5 miles. It begins east of Birch Ridge Avenue in Topsham and ends near Drew Street in Lewiston. We will be doing paving work in addition to making drainage and sidewalk improvements. Drivers should expect daytime lane closures, but we will be maintaining two-way traffic between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. The contractor on this work is All States Asphalt of Richmond. We expect the project will be completed by September 7th.
