Augusta - MaineDOT's "My Maine Sign Contest!" has wrapped up with nearly 2,000 safety-related messaged submitted! A well-trained team of experts (not really) narrowed the 2,000 entries down to 60 for public voting.
Public voting began on April 20th and kicked off two weeks of fun, smart and clever messages being narrowed from 60 to six.
Three winners for the small boards and three for the very large message boards were selected. If you are traveling on Maines highways this Memorial Day Weekend, youll see two of the top six and another that was part of the top 60.
While it was tough to narrow the field, the winners for the small message boards are:
Katie Landry: Put Down UR Cell Or You May End Up In One
Dan Zarin: Spend Money On Lobstahs Not Speeding Tickets
Tim Fahey: Little Known Fact Snow Is Really Slippery
Good stuff, huh?
The winners for the large message boards are:
Craig Carver: A Cold Suppah Is Bettah Thana Hot Ticket
Laura Giuliano: Be Protected Not Projected Buckle Up
Terry White: Keep In Mind Moose Eyes Dont Shine
Prizes awarded ranged from Penobscot Narrows Bridge and Observatory tickets to passes to Maine State parks and a personalized street sign. Of course, the glory of having your message flashed on signs across the state is priceless!
We want to thank all who entered the contest to make Maine safety messaging fun! Look for these and other great messages in the coming months.
