BATH - The Maine Department of Transportation will be conducting more overnight paving work on Route 1 in Bath. Between 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27th and 6:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28th, crews will be paving the Congress Avenue off-ramp and on-ramp on the southbound side of Route 1. These ramps will be closed during paving operations. Signs will direct drivers to detours. We need to close the ramps during paving operations due to the size of the equipment and the safety of the traveling public and workers. Closing the ramps during operations will allow the work to be done more quickly. Like all outside construction work, this schedule is weather-dependent.
This ramp work is part of a larger paving project on Route 1 that stretches more than five miles from the Cook's Corner Interchange in Brunswick to the Bath Viaduct and Sagadahoc Bridge. Northeast Paving is the contractor on this project. The current contract amount is $17,066,562.
