MaineDOT to Work on Gut Bridge in South Bristol

The bridge will be closed to marine traffic only.

SOUTH BRISTOL – March 17, 2026 — Starting on March 23, the Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) will be performing bridge maintenance on Gut Bridge.

Workers will be on site for two days replacing and updating parts in the bridge’s control panel. 

Marine traffic will not be able to go under the bridge during the maintenance. There will be no impacts to vehicular traffic during this time.

The Coast guard has been notified and approved the closure.

The contractors on this project are MaineDOT Region 2 and Panatrol of Oak Forest, Illinois.

The contract amount is $10,000.
