MaineDOT to Perform Work on Casco Bay Bridge

PORTLAND – March 26, 2026 — The Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) will be performing maintenance work on the Casco Bay Bridge at mile 1.5 over the Fore River (Casco Bay) between Portland and South Portland on April 7 and April 21 in order to complete rehabilitation of the bridge’s span lock power feeds.

The U.S. Coast Guard has issued a temporary deviation from the regulation governing the Casco Bay Bridge to allow a temporary closure.

During the project, the bridge will remain in the closed position to vessel traffic on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 9AM to 3PM (Backup date: Wednesday, April 8, 2026) and Tuesday, April 21, 2026, from 9AM to 3PM (Backup date: Wednesday, April 22, 2026).

Vessels that can safely pass beneath the bridge while it is in the closed position may do so.

Mariners seeking additional information or clarification may contact the bridge operator on marine radio channel 13 or reach the bridge supervisor directly at 207-592-2846.

MaineDOT appreciates the understanding and cooperation of the maritime community while we perform this necessary rehabilitation work to maintain safe and reliable bridge operations.
