WELLS - The Maine Department of Transportation will be making improvements to the intersection of Routes 109 and 9A in Wells. This project will involve excavation and the installation of a new advanced traffic controller cabinet, strain poles, and advanced optic equipment that will assist with advanced vehicle detection and emergency vehicle preemption. This work will require periodic lane restrictions throughout construction. Work will begin on August 1st and is estimated to be completed in April 2022. This project will convert the current traffic pattern, which utilizes a two-way stop, to a fully signalized intersection with the latest technology. The contractor for this project is Electric Light Company of York. The contract amount is $246,350.
