MaineDOT will shut down all northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 95 in Fairfield at Exit 133 on Wednesday, January 6 at midnight for approximately ? hour as crews replace a damaged sign truss. Motorists should also expect lane closures in the area between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 4 a.m. Thursday as crews prepare to remove the sign truss.
Starting at 10 p.m., traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction as crews prepare to remove the sign truss that spans all four lanes and both directions of Interstate 95. At approximately midnight Wednesday, crews will close all lanes to traffic to remove the damaged truss. All lanes are expected to remain closed for ? hour; and once thru traffic resumes, there will be single lane closures until 4 a.m.
The sign truss was struck by a vehicle on Sunday, December 13, and was damaged significantly enough to warrant removal. The planned sign truss removal is dependent upon the weather, and in the case of high winds or accumulating snow, crews will reschedule the sign truss removal for the following week. Currently, no weather postponements are expected.
