Eddy Road Closure in Edgecomb

EDGECOMB - The Maine Department of Transportation will be making safety improvements to part of Eddy Road in Edgecomb. Crews will be blasting ledge and rebuilding a retaining wall in order to improve sight distance for motorists and make the road easier to maintain in the future.

This work will involve daytime closures between Clifford Road and Fort Road from Monday, September 20th through Thursday, September 30th. Drivers should expect full lane closures between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Signs will direct drivers to detour routes. This work may also involve an alternating, one-lane traffic pattern during the times when Eddy Road can be opened to through-traffic.

Eddy Road will remain open to local traffic. Residents who live on the Fort Edgecomb side of the closure will be able to access their homes from Route 1. Residents who live on the other side of the causeway will be able to access their homes from Route 27.

This work is part of the project that also includes the reconfiguration of traffic at the intersection of Routes 1 and 27. The contractor on this project is Sargent Corporation of Old Town. The contract amount is $2,346,703. The project is still scheduled to be finished by mid-October.

MaineDOT thanks residents and members of the traveling public for their patience and understand while our crews and contracting partners finish these important improvements.
