CORRECTION: Ferry Service to Vinalhaven Reduced This Weekend

The first version of this press release did not specify that only runs on the Capt. Richard G. Spear are impacted. All runs on the the Capt. E. Frank Thompson are currently on schedule.

ROCKLAND - The Maine Department of Transportation announced today that some Maine State Ferry Service (MSFS) trips on the Capt. Richard G. Spear between Rockland and Vinalhaven will be cancelled this weekend after an employee tested positive for COVID-19. This employee's absence, coupled with ongoing staffing challenges, means the MSFS does not have enough crew members to staff every regularly-scheduled run this weekend.

The following trips will be cancelled:

  • Friday, May 27th 4:30 p.m. trip from Rockland to Vinalhaven
  • Saturday, May 28th 7:00 a.m. trip from Vinalhaven to Rockland and 4:30 p.m. trip from Rockland to Vinalhaven
  • Sunday, May 29th all trips on the Capt. Richard G. Spear except for the 4:30 p.m. trip from Rockland to Vinalhaven.
We apologize for the inconvenience this will cause our customers.
