YARMOUTH - Beginning next week, the Maine Department of Transportation will be impacting traffic on the Bayview Street Bridge in Yarmouth. This bridge carries Bayview Street over I-295. MaineDOT is beginning work on a project to replace the deck of the bridge, add a sidewalk on the south side of the bridge, and increase the height of the bridge rail on both sides of the bridge. The contractor on this project is CPM Constructors of Freeport, and the contract amount is $1,687,258.
Between March 15th and 19th, traffic may be reduced to a single lane during the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Flaggers will control an alternating traffic pattern. On March 22nd, traffic will be reduced to a single lane until early September. We are scheduled to reopen the bridge to two lanes of traffic on September 2nd. Beginning on September 7th, more lane restrictions may be required, but they will only happen between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The project is scheduled to be complete in early November.
We want to thank the public in advance for their patience and understanding as we work to make these important safety and mobility improvements. We understand the important access this bridge provides. On-site crews are available to help motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians navigate the bridge during construction.
