MaineDOT invites and encourages the public to participate in a public hearing for the Machias Dike Bridge (#2246). Members of the public are encouraged to view the project presentation online and attend the in-person hearing on September 30, 2026, at 6:00 pm; at the Machias Memorial High School Gymnasium.
This will be the first formal public hearing of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) process. The purpose of this hearing is to discuss the purpose and need for the project, alternatives being considered, potential environmental impacts, and for members of the public to ask questions and provide information that should be considered during the EIS process.
An online virtual public meeting will be available during the formal public comment period. The virtual meeting can be viewed at any time beginning September 23 through October 31, 2026, and will allow the public to submit online comments and questions.
Questions, comments, or inquiries may be submitted during the in-person public hearing, through the online virtual meeting, or directed to the Project Manager listed below.
