MaineDOT, Maine Turnpike Authority, Others to Address Work Zone Safety Awareness
Multiple agencies will come together to remind the public about the importance of work zone safety.
(AUGUSTA – April 10, 2026) As part of a significant, multi-layered outreach effort, the Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT), Maine Turnpike Authority, Department of Public Safety and other partners will host a press conference recognizing National Work Zone Awareness Week and emphasizing shared responsibility for work zone safety. Construction season is underway, and Maine officials are urging drivers to slow down and stay alert in work zones. This event brings together transportation, law enforcement, and construction leaders—and includes a memorial honoring workers killed on the job—underscoring the real consequences of inattention behind the wheel. The press event will mark the start of the campaign calling attention to this matter.
