MaineDOT to Begin Work on Eddy Bridge in Berwick
Drivers should plan for a one lane closures and alternating one way traffic.
BERWICK – May 19, 2026 — Starting May 26, the Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) will begin work on Eddy Bridge which brings traffic between Berwick, Maine and Somersworth, New Hampshire, for a bridge wearing surface replacement project.
The project work will include milling existing pavement, preparing temporary ramps, bridge deck ends and bridge joints work, membrane installation, paving, and striping.
During the project, there will be single lane closures and alternating one way traffic. Traffic will be controlled by temporary traffic signals on site. There will be a lane width restriction of 11 feet maximum during construction.
Motorists should expect delays and use caution when traveling through the work zone.
Work is expected to be completed by October 2026.
The contractor for this project is Wyman & Simpson, Inc. of Richmond, Maine.
The contract amount is $354,000.
