Update to Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) Claim Pend Process for Home Health and Hospice Services

This message is a follow up to the August 13, 2021 message in which we announced the EVV “soft launch” period for providers of section 40 Home Health and section 43 Hospice services ahead of the January 1, 2023 federal implementation deadline.

The soft launch period for Home Health services will still start July 1, 2022. Starting this date, Home Health claims with dates of service July 1, 2022 or later will pend for up to three days while searching for a matching EVV record and then process to pay unless denied for another reason.

Due to the need to add new Sandata functionality to support the implementation for Hospice services, we are moving the soft launch period for Hospice services to start September 13, 2022. Starting this date, Hospice claims with dates of service also July 1, 2022 or later will pend for up to three days while searching for a matching EVV record and then process to pay unless denied for another reason.

We will incorporate information about the new Sandata functionality for Hospice services into regularly scheduled EVV trainings starting after August 5, 2022 and will announce town hall sessions for 3rd party system vendors soon.
