While the pervasiveness of trauma is well-known, the last two years of collective trauma has brought new awareness to the impact trauma has on mental and physical health. This webinar will review trauma sequelae via the Adverse Childhood Events (ACE) perspective, review essential concepts of trauma informed care, and explore emerging research on infusing trauma informed care in all healthcare practices.  
  
Objectives:  
1. Understand the implications of Felitti and Anda’s original ACE study.  
2. Understand the biopsychosocial impact of trauma.  
3. Explore emerging trauma-informed care practices.    

      

Angela Fileccia, LCSW

Angela has 20 years of experience in the field of behavioral health with extensive expertise and knowledge of mental, behavioral and social health needs of patients. She began her career working with children with serious emotional disturbance and then transitioned to working with adults providing inpatient, acute psychotherapy and care transition planning to patients with serious and persistent mental illness and substance use disorders.  Angela was the Chief Care Management Officer at Maine’s largest FQHC and helped found Unlimited Solutions Clubhouse, a SAMSHSA evidence-based psycho-social rehabilitation model for people with severe and persistent mental illness. In 2013, she received the Behavioral Health Excellence award from the Maine Primary Care Association and won the Unsung Hero Award in 2016. She was also awarded the 2021 Outstanding Alumni Award from the University of Maine School of Social Work. Angela is currently the Director of the Counseling Center at the University of Maine.    

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the Maine Medical Education Trust and Maine Pediatric & Behavioral Health Partnership.  The Maine medical Education Trust is accredited by the Maine Medical Association Committee on continuing medical Education and Accreditation to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
