Provider Update: Federally Required MaineCare Off-Cycle Provider Revalidation Plan
On April 23, 2026, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued letters to all states requesting that they develop and submit a comprehensive two-year provider revalidation strategy, with priority given to revalidating high-risk providers. As previously communicated, Maine submitted our two-year plan on June 5, 2026.
You can now find a list of all providers included in the off-cycle revalidation on our Federally Required 2026-2028 Off-Cycle Revalidation Plan website. We have grouped providers into five cohorts. We sent a 30-day notice letter to providers in cohorts 1 and 2 announcing that their revalidation window opens on August 17, 2026. Providers in cohorts 3 through 5 will receive the customary 60-day and 30-day notices.
You can find more information about the provider revalidation process on our Provider Enrollment and Revalidation webpage.
The Department remains committed to program integrity, responsible stewardship, and clear communication with providers throughout this process. We will share information with providers through usual communication channels as appropriate.
