No Prior Authorization (PA) Needed for Insulin Used to Treat Gestational Diabetes

MaineCare will reimburse providers for Humulin and Novolin Neutral Protamine Hagedorn (NPH) insulin for gestational diabetes without a PA when providers indicate pregnancy on the prescription.   

If you prescribe Humulin or Novolin NPH insulin to a patient who is pregnant, and the pharmacy refuses to fill the prescription or says that a PA is required, please call the Change Healthcare Provider Helpdesk at 1-888-420-9711.
