Emotional dysregulation with explosive outbursts and the associated symptoms are often responsible for: expulsions from childcare, placement in restrictive educational settings, extended stays in the Emergency Department, admissions to psychiatric hospitals and placement in residential treatment programs. This webinar will focus on the following learning objectives: 

  • Identify how symptoms can impair children. 

  • Design an effective treatment plan for children experiencing emotional dysregulation with explosive outbursts. 

  • Identify appropriate biopsychosocial treatments.

Dr. Tweed received his Medical Degree from the Duke University School of Medicine and a Master's in Public Health from the University of North Carolina. He completed his residency in General Psychiatry at Duke and was on the Duke clinical faculty as a general psychiatrist for five years before completing a two year fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Duke. After moving to Maine, he worked for several years in the Maine Medical Center/Spring Harbor Hospital system before becoming Medical Director of the Office of Child and Family Services at Maine DHHS. He currently works at the Edmund Ervin Pediatric Center at Maine General Hospital and is the President of the Maine Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
