MDIFW NEWS: Game Wardens Locate and Rescue Missing 74-Year-old Belfast Woman

BELFAST, Maine - Maine Game Warden Chad Robertson and his K9 Storm located a missing Belfast women at approximately 7:00 tonight.

Nancy Rumney, 74, was reported missing from her Hunt Road home early this afternoon by her husband. Belfast police took the initial call and later alerted the Maine Warden Service at approximately 5:00 PM. A local resident told authorities that she had witnessed Rumney hiking in the woods between Route 52 and Village Road at approximately 8:50 AM. The witness observed Rumney on an opposite shore of a stream and despite her efforts, she could not gain the attention of Rumney, who then wandered away.

Game Warden Chad Robertson and his K9 Storm were deployed in the location of the stream. A Maine Warden Service aircraft also responded to the area to assist in the search. After a search of the area, K9 Storm picked up Rumney's scent and lead Warden Robertson to Rumney, nearly three miles from her home. Wardens noted that Rumney was mobile and in fair health, and game wardens assisted in getting Nancy Rumney to a Belfast ambulance where she was transported to Waldo County General Hospital.
