Children’s Single Assessment Referral Training for Pediatricians, Family Medicine Providers, and Emergency Department (ED) Providers

Referral Process

Beginning February 2, 2026, Single Assessment Referral will be the required statewide process for determining eligibility for children’s medium- and high-intensity behavioral health services, as required under Maine’s Children’s Behavioral Health Services Settlement Agreement.

The Single Assessment is a standardized approach to assessing a child’s behavioral health needs and identifying the appropriate level of care and clinically indicated services for children who require medium- to high-intensity behavioral health services.

Training Session

Acentra Health, in collaboration with the Maine’s Office of Children’s Behavioral Health Services (CBHS), will offer one training session for pediatricians, family medicine providers, and ED providers. This training will cover:

  • An overview of the Single Assessment process
  • When and how to submit a Single Assessment referral
  • The referral workflow
  • How to request and set up access to Acentra’s online portal, Atrezzo

The session will include time for participant questions. For providers who are unable to attend, the session will be recorded, and a consolidated Frequently Asked Questions document will be  available following the training.
