Metrc User Workgroup

Welcome to the hub of the Office of Cannabis Policy’s (OCP’s) Metrc User Workgroup! Inventory tracking is one of the hallmarks of a regulated cannabis industry. Maine’s launch of its Adult Use Cannabis Program has been a success, thanks to the work of OCP and our partners in the industry.  We realize that the process of tracking provides important data and public health and safety safeguards, but it also poses challenges to our licensed operators. We look forward to engaging in a substantive dialogue to better understand how we can strike the right balance between protecting public safety and implementing standards that are not overburdensome.

The call for applications for the Metrc User Workgroup is now closed.  To review the eligibility requirements for the group, please click here.  Thank you again for your interest.

Workgroup Purpose

OCP is seeking qualified individuals through a competitive application process to fill seats on its Metrc User Workgroup meant to engage on issues related to the State of Maine’s cannabis inventory tracking system. Topics discussed are anticipated to include batch tracking, cultivation practices, costs to implement and administer, ongoing workload, and if its use in verifying inventory has satisfied the mandatory testing of adult-use cannabis.

The workgroup will meet virtually at least three times to advise OCP. Outcomes resulting from the meetings are expected to include steps that may be taken by Metrc to update their cloud-based software platform or by OCP to streamline the office’s regulations related to inventory tracking.
