Metrc User Workgroup

Welcome to the hub of the Office of Cannabis Policy’s (OCP) Metrc User Workgroup. Inventory tracking is one of the hallmarks of a well-regulated cannabis industry. However, OCP realizes that while the process of tracking provides important data and public health and safety safeguards, it also poses challenges to our licensed operators. The substantive dialogue with the Metrc User Workgroup helped us better understand how we can strike the right balance between protecting public safety and implementing standards that are not overburdensome.

Final Report

Membership

OCP sought qualified individuals through a competitive application process to fill seats on its Metrc User Workgroup meant to engage on issues related to the State of Maine’s cannabis inventory tracking system. To review the eligibility requirements for the Workgroup, please click here.

The Workgroup met virtually four times to advise OCP. Topics discussed included API, customer service, functionality, reports, testing, training, and user experience. Outcomes resulting from the meetings included steps that may be taken by Metrc to update their cloud-based software platform or by OCP to streamline the Office’s regulations related to inventory tracking.
