Adult Use Cannabis Program

Since the establishment of the Office of Cannabis Policy (OCP) in February 2019, the State of Maine has worked to responsibly implement the Cannabis Legalization Act and regulate adult use cannabis in Maine. OCP issued the first active adult use establishment licenses on September 8, 2020, with retail sales to consumers launching on October 9, 2020.

Today, OCP licenses cultivators, manufacturers, retail stores, and testing facilities who work to provide access to adult use cannabis and cannabis products for Maine residents and visitors over the age of 21 who choose to consume cannabis. Please note that all adult use cannabis and cannabis products in Maine are subject to mandatory contaminant testing and statewide inventory tracking.
