Metrc User Workgroup Eligibility & Requirements

Workgroup Purpose

OCP sought qualified individuals through a competitive application process to fill seats on its Metrc User Workgroup meant to engage on issues related to the State of Maine’s cannabis inventory tracking system. Topics discussed include batch tracking, cultivation practices, costs to implement and administer, ongoing workload, and if its use in verifying inventory has satisfied the mandatory testing of adult-use cannabis.

The workgroup will meet virtually at least three times to advise OCP. Outcomes resulting from the meetings are expected to include steps that may be taken by Metrc to update their cloud-based software platform or by OCP to streamline the office’s regulations related to inventory tracking.

Eligibility Criteria

In addition to holding expertise for the respective seat of application, applicants must:

  • Not be a registered lobbyist with the Maine Commission on Governmental Ethics and Election Practices except for those individuals who lobby solely and directly on behalf of their employer.
  • Hold an active AUCP facility license with OCP and/or be directly employed by such a licensee.
  • The licensee and/or employee applying to serve must be in good standing with OCP.

The workgroup will be composed of at least 10 members who represent current operators in Maine’s adult-use Cannabis industry, and who is also a current Metrc user. It is important that workgroup members interface with Metrc regularly, if not daily. Representatives from OCP will chair the workgroup and join members in discussions which will focus on inventory tracking’s use in cultivation practices, costs to implement and administer, ongoing workload, and its use in verifying inventory has satisfied the mandatory testing of adult-use cannabis. Representatives from Metrc will be present for workgroup meetings as a technical resource.

Workgroup members will serve as volunteers and must satisfy the requirements of the specific seats they seek to hold. The office sought individuals who will fill the following positions:

  • Four (4) cultivation facility representatives,
  • Two (2) product manufacturing representatives,
  • Two (2) Cannabis store representative(s),
  • One (1) Cannabis testing facility representative, and
  • One (1) vertically integrated facility operator.
