Facilities Operations and Maintenance

Carpentry, Painting, and Windows

The trades provide maintenance and repair for the infrastructure of state-owned buildings. This includes, but may not be limited to: stairs and railings, walls, ceilings, windows, and doorways. Flooring repairs and/or replacements are also completed by the trades, as well as roof repairs.  Additionally, the trades also execute minor renovations necessary for relocation or consolidation of agencies, which includes moving furniture. Oversight of the exterior window washing contract is done by this group, as well as the purchase, installation, and removal of window A/C units.

Electrical

The Electrical Shop performs preventative maintenance and repair to the electrical system servicing state-owned buildings. This includes emergency lighting, parking lot lighting, ballasts, electrical panels, electrical switches, and generators. The electricians also provide new or re-wiring required by minor renovations and upgrades in support of state-owned facilities. The high voltage (12,470 volts) electricians work hand and hand with Central Maine Power and other high voltage contractors on many projects. They also do their own overhead pole work, high voltage vaults, and high voltage manhole work.

The Plumbing Shop provides maintenance and repairs to fire and sewer pumps, sprinkler and irrigation systems, bathroom fixtures (toilets and sinks), and plumbing.  This includes performing scheduled maintenance and responding to service calls.
