Custodial and Grounds Services

Custodial

Custodial services include daily cleaning and servicing of restrooms, collection of trash and recyclables, and regular maintenance of all floors: sweep, dry mop, wax, vacuum and shampoo. The housekeepers are also responsible for changing out light bulbs, assisting with moving furniture, and providing and setting up tables and chairs for conferences and meetings. Custodial staff responds to all requests for spills, special cleaning and disinfecting of areas, and supplying additional recycle and waste cans.

Grounds

The grounds staff provides mowing, trimming and raking of lawns, and trimming of trees and shrubbery.  A spring and fall clean-up is done around the exteriors of state-owned properties.  Snow removal, to include plowing, shoveling, sanding and salting, is also a responsibility of the grounds staff as well as oversight of the state’s contracted snow plowing and removal services.  This group is also responsible for sweeping of parking lots in the spring to rid of winter’s sand build-up, and re-striping those parking lots. The grounds staff is also responsible for repairs and maintenance of state-owned utility piping, utility structures, and exterior infrastructure such as sidewalks and curbing.  The grounds crew additionally cleans exterior trash containers, assists with moves and clean-outs, and maintains all monuments.
