Maine Senior FarmShare: For Seniors

VegetablesMaine Senior FarmShare (MSFP) provides income-eligible older adults the opportunity to receive share (worth $50) of local produce at no cost from Maine farmers during the growing season.

To take part in MSFP, you must:

  • Be a Maine resident
  • Be 60 years old or older (55 years old or older for Native Americans)
  • Meet the 2024-2025 Income Guidelines, with a gross income at or below:
    • $27,861/per year for a one-person household; or
    • $37,814/per year for a two-person household

  • Participants receive $50 worth of local produce from a MSFP authorized farm.
  • Each farm operates MSFP in its own way. Be sure to ask how it works when you sign up!
  • Shares are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. You will be put on a waiting list if your preferred farm is full.


Over 100 farms in Maine are authorized to participate in MSFP. They are distributed across all 16 counties.

Check social media or call the farm for schedule. Please note the farm's schedule at farmers' market may vary from when the market is open.


Sign-up begins each year in April. Once your farm has produce available, you can begin shopping! Be sure to note when your farm closes for the season so you can use your full share.


To sign up, call the farm directly each year. It is the your responsibility to contact an authorized farm to sign up for the program. You will not be automatically re-enrolled the following year. You may only sign up with one farm per year.

Maine Harvest Bucks are known as “nutrition incentives,” which increase the value of federal nutrition assistance dollars (SNAP/EBT) spent at participating markets. For every dollar you spend with your SNAP/EBT card at a market, you’ll receive an extra “buck” in Maine Harvest Bucks to be spent on fruits and vegetables.
