Agricultural Business and Market Development
Staff in the Division of Agricultural Resource Development assist individual agricultural businesses with marketing and production issues including, business planning, financing, market research, access to farmland, registration, protection and taxation of farmland, labor, and many other related issues. If we cannot assist you, we will direct you to a resource agency or person who can assist you.
Business Resource Directory
We help you find information on agricultural subjects through various agency and industry contacts and directories. We maintain a lists of farms interested in promotional activities, agricultural associations, and agencies that regulate, support, and advocate for Maine agriculture.
Ag Business Planning Assistance
Do you need to expand, consolidate, or just better plan for your existing business? Do you need a business plan to apply for a loan? We can assist you directly, or through contacts with SCORE, the University of Maine Small Business Development Centers, or other organizations and consultants. We also administer the Maine Farms for the Future Program, a competitive grant program that assists farms in commercial operation for 2 or more years with researching, planning and implementing changes to improve the profitability of their business.
