With Real ID or a Passport Required to Fly Beginning May 7, Bureau of Motor Vehicles Puts Measures in Place to Ease Wait Times

Scheduling BMV appointment best way to reduce waiting time

AUGUSTA, MAINE – Beginning May 7, 2025, travelers will need a Real ID, passport, or a passport card to fly commercially. As Mainers plan their summer vacation travel, the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) has added the following measures to ease wait times for Real ID applicants, including:

An Act to Require an Individual to Present Photographic Identification for the Purpose of Voting

Do you want to change Maine election laws to require voters to show ID before voting, end ongoing absentee voting for seniors and people with disabilities, ban prepaid postage on absentee ballot return envelopes, prohibit requests for absentee ballots by phone or family members, eliminate two days of absentee voting, and make other changes to our elections?

Bellows issues question for people’s veto of state budget

AUGUSTA — Secretary of State Shenna Bellows has issued the question for the people’s veto of the state’s two-year budget, led by Rep. Gary Drinkwater. The question, which will appear on the petitions and – should the people’s veto move forward – Mainers’ ballots, reads

“Do you want to stop most state government operations and programs, including new and ongoing state funding for cities, towns, and schools, by rejecting the state's two-year budget?”
