Title Branding
- Salvage title indicates a vehicle is damaged by collision, fire, flood, accident, trespass, or other occurrence to the extent that its fair salvage value plus the cost of repairing the vehicle for legal operation on roads or highways exceeds the fair market value of the vehicle prior to the occurrence causing the damage.
- Rebuilt/Reconstructed is a salvage titled vehicle that has been repaired and restored to operation. These vehicles are often repaired using refurbished parts. Many, but not all jurisdictions also carry a sub-tag on rebuilt titles that specifies how the car was damaged: fire, flood, theft, collision, etc.
- Junk is a similar notation to a salvage title, but generally indicates that the vehicle is not road worthy. This is issued on a vehicle damaged to the extent that the cost of repairing the vehicle exceeds 75% of its pre-damage value.
