Question issued for people’s veto of state supplemental budget

AUGUSTA, MAINE – The Office of the Secretary of State has issued the question for the people’s veto of the state’s supplemental budget. The question, which will appear on the petitions and, should the people’s veto move forward, Mainers’ ballots in November, reads:

“Do you want to stop additional funding for state programs and services, more funding for schools, and tax changes by rejecting the state's 2026 supplemental budget?”

Hearing scheduled May 12 for challenge to citizen initiative petition

Superior Court directed the Secretary of State to issue determination by May 26

AUGUSTA, MAINE – A hearing regarding challenges filed against the petitions filed by proponents of the citizen initiative titled “An Act to Designate School Sports Participation and Facilities by Sex” will be held on May 12. The hearing will be held in room 127 of the Maine State House in Augusta and will begin at 10:00 a.m.

BMV hits the road with launch of new mobile branch

BMV4ME portable unit will bring popular services to rural towns, underserved communities 

AUGUSTA, MAINE – The Department of the Secretary of State, Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) today launched its new mobile branch, a portable unit that can deploy in towns without direct BMV services and to underserved communities. Branded BMV4ME, the mobile unit was unveiled in Augusta before hitting the road for a ribbon cutting in Belfast, where mobile services will be offered on an ongoing monthly basis.

AUGUSTA, MAINE – The Bureau of Motor Vehicles’ Enforcement Division (BMV) and Eastern Maine Community College (EMCC) will team up to host a free catalytic converter etching event on Tuesday, April 21. The event will run from 9:00 a.m. to Noon at EMCC (354 Hogan Road, Bangor).
