MDIFW NEWS -- Game wardens locate missing Skowhegan teen

Maine game wardens located a missing 17-year-old male with autism this afternoon off the East River Road in Skowhegan. The Skowhegan teen left his home on the East River Road at approximately 11:00 this morning and did not return. He was reported missing to law enforcement by his mother at about 4:00 this afternoon.

Skowhegan Police Department, Skowhegan Fire Department and both a Maine Warden Service K-9 team and pilot responded. A search of the surrounding area was conducted to include the Kennebec River with watercraft. At about 6:00 this evening the teen was located by a game warden searching in the woods close to the Kennebec River. The male had been building a shelter approximately one quarter of a mile from his house. The teen did not require medical attention and was brought back to his home and reunited with his mother.
