Orrington Man Dies in Snowmobile Crash

An Orrington man died when his snowmobile hit a snowdrift and he was thrown from his machine on Sunday, February 20.

Bobbie Pelletier, age 47, of Orrington, was riding his 2019 Arctic Cat Thundercat on a groomed portion of the runway at the former Loring Airforce Base in Limestone. The initial investigation showed that Pelletier was traveling at a high rate of speed when he struck a snow drift and was thrown from his machine at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Sunday. Pelletier was wearing a helmet.

The Maine Warden Service, Caribou Fire/EMS and the Limestone Fire Department all responded to the scene. Pelletier was transported to Cary Hospital in Caribou where he was pronounced dead.
