MDIFW NEWS: Brunswick Man Dies On Sebago Lake While Tubing Behind Boat

SEBAGO LAKE, Maine - A Brunswick man died this afternoon while being towed on a tube behind a pontoon boat on Sebago Lake in the town of Casco.

Corey Wilcox, 37, was being towed behind a 22-foot Sun Tracker pontoon boat that had been rented at Port Harbor Marine. In addition to Wilcox who was on the tube, the boat contained five adults including the operator who were out on the boat for a work outing. The incident took place at approximately 4:30 this afternoon on New Place Cove near Point Sebago.

Wilcox was being towed but started showing signs of medical distress, and the boat slowed and stopped to help him. Several passengers from the pontoon boat entered the water to help Wilcox who was not wearing a life jacket. Another boat in the vicinity also rendered aid and pulled Wilcox aboard where lifesaving measures were made but unsuccessful. Wilcox was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel. Water conditions were very rough on the lake which may have contributed to the incident. Wilcox was taken to Halls Funeral Home in Casco where the Medical Examiner's Office plans to perform an exam.

Several game wardens responded to the incident as well as Cumberland County Sheriffs Deputies and the Raymond Fire Department. This incident remains under investigation by the Maine Warden Service, and currently no further information is available.
