MDIFW NEWS: Game wardens investigate boater death in Wayne

WAYNE, Maine - Game wardens are investigating the death of a Wayne man found in his motorboat this morning on Pocasset Lake. Shortly before 10:00, a Pocasset Lake resident observed what looked to be an abandoned boat floating near the lake's southeast shore. Upon closer inspection, it was determined the boat contained a deceased male occupant, Christopher Brown, age 33. Browns body was located within the rear portion of the motorboat.

Browns 1982 14-foot Alumacraft motorboat appeared to have contacted rocks just under the water surface. This area is marked with a hazard buoy. Brown was not wearing a lifejacket, but they were found in his motorboat. Brown was last seen leaving a nearby gathering of friends late last evening and game wardens believe he died at some point during the night. Roberts Funeral Home from Winthrop released the body to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for examination. Game wardens, deputies from the Kennebec County Sheriffs Department and Winthrop Ambulance personnel responded to this incident.
