MDIFW NEWS: Game Wardens, Belfast Seniors Square Off To Raise Money For Charities

For Immediate Release: May 10, 2019

Operation Game Thief and the Maine Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation will be the big winners in a benefit softball game between Maine Game Wardens and senior baseball and softball players from Belfast Area High School.

The third annual benefit game is scheduled for Sunday, May 19th at 1:00 Walsh Field in Belfast. Admission to the game is free, but throughout the game there will be opportunities to donate.

"There will be multiple items available through a raffle, and during the game, different players will go to "jail" and money needs to be donated to bail them out, said Game Warden Josh Beal, one of the organizers of the event.

The Maine Warden Service defeated the Belfast Area High School Team by just one run last year, and Belfast is seeking to avenge last year's loss, with the two teams hopeful they can raise over $28,000.

Each wish for the Make-A-Wish foundation costs about $7,000. If we can raise $28,000, we can make the wishes come true for two children, said Beal.
