Lewiston Man Dies In Dirt bike Crash

MINOT, Maine - The Maine Warden Service is investigating a fatal dirt bike crash in Minot.

Earlier today, Maine Game Wardens responded to a dirt bike crash at Hemond's Moto-cross and Offroad Park in Minot. At approximately 11:30 this morning, Jessie Moody, age 19, of Lewiston was operating a dirt bike on the motocross track when he apparently lost control of his dirt bike after going over a jump. Moody and his Yamaha YZ dirt bike traveled off the track on a sharp corner and passed through two wooden fences before colliding with an embankment.

Rescue personnel from Life Flight of Maine, United Ambulance Service, Androscoggin Sheriffs office and Minot Fire Department responded to the scene immediately and attempted lifesaving measures on Moody, who was wearing a helmet and other protective gear at the time of the crash but Moody passed away at the scene.

Maine Game Wardens, along with officers from Mechanic Falls Police Department and Androscoggin County Sheriffs Office also responded to the scene. The Maine Warden Service is investigating the crash, and speed appears to be a contributing factor. No other people or dirt bikes were involved in the crash. Moody was transported to the Pinette, Dillingham and Lynch Funeral in Lewiston where he will be examined by a state medical examiner.

This release will be updated if new information becomes available.
