Maine Office of Cannabis Policy Expands Recall of Adult Use Vape Cartridges Produced by NorCO Outdoor Cannabis

The expanded recall involves three additional strains of adult use vape cartridges sold between March 10, 2025, and October 23, 2025

AUGUSTA, Maine – The Maine Office of Cannabis Policy (OCP) is today expanding a health and safety recall for Yani adult use vape cartridges produced by NorCO Outdoor Cannabis. The original recall issued on October 27, 2025, involved vape cartridges of the strain “Watermelon Chimera.” The expanded recall involves additional Yani adult use vape cartridges of the strains “Apples & Bananas,” “Cherry Tartufo,” and “Lemon Cherry Pie.”

The products affected by the original recall were sold at 21 adult use cannabis retail stores. The expanded recall adds five more stores, located in Auburn (2), Kittery, Portland, and Thomaston, to the list of retailers that sold affected Yani adult use vape cartridges. For a full list of retail stores involved in this recall, please visit https://www.maine.gov/dafs/ocp/recalls/norco-10-2025

OCP issued the original recall on October 27, 2025, following an investigation into a consumer complaint about an adverse health reaction that included testing on the batch of vape cartridges alleged to have caused the adverse reaction. During the pendency of the investigation, the manufacturer voluntarily recalled additional batches of Yani vape cartridges from retail stores. OCP expanded its investigation to include testing of those additional vape cartridges and is expanding the recall due to those test results showing unsafe levels of the pesticide Chlorfenapyr.

Inhaling cannabis containing unsafe levels of Chlorfenapyr can lead to high fever, sweating, nausea, vomiting, and/or altered mental status. Consumers who purchased these products should return them to the retailer or dispose of them. Any consumer who has ingested these products and is experiencing symptoms or adverse reactions should contact a healthcare provider immediately or dial 911 if there is a medical emergency.

All adult use cannabis is required to have a label affixed to the package that indicates the product’s batch number. Consumers should check the label of their vape products for the batch number listed below under “Product Information”.
