Brick Store Museum

Collection of over 35,000 archival materials including photographs, journals, newspapers, business ledgers, genealogical records and other items narrating the history of Kennebunk, Kennebunkport and our surrounding communities. This includes family, civic, and business histories, as the Museum serves the role of historical society to Kennebunk. Additionally, the Museum holds over 35,000 three-dimensional objects that illustrate our region?s history and culture.

Boothbay Region Historical Society

The BRHS museum houses more than 15,000 images, 4,500 local history files, local newspapers dating from 1876, numerous family files & genealogies, maps & nautical charts, vessel plans and a large collection of account books, day books, diaries, logs and family albums dating from the 1750s to the mid-1950s. Our exhibit rooms include items from pre-colonial days to the present, with emphasis on local industries, such as shipbuilding & fishing, as well as items from daily life.

Blue Hill Historical Society

The Blue Hill Historical Society maintains the Jeremiah Thorndike Holt House, built in 1815. Our Special Collections:

  • The Elizabeth Wescott Collection of Genealogical Materials which includes information on 300 surnames from the Blue Hill area.
  • Early Blue Hill Embroidered Samplers
  • A very unusual hooked, braided and embroidered rug, dated 1858

Bath Historical Society

Includes, but is not limited to, photographs, documents, books, DVDs, oral histories, genealogies, ledgers, minutes and records, scrapbooks, plans, maps, city and town reports, small three-dimensional items, and Bath Historical Society publications. There are extensive collections related to people, businesses, churches, schools, organizations, transportation, and events.

Baldwin Historical Society

Over 2000 documents and photographs cataloged and extensive collection of glass negatives and early town records that go back to the 1800's. We have spent the last year scanning photographs for our archives taht our community has been willing to share with us. We have state of the art equipment for this purpose. All photos will be digitally recorded for our archives.

Appleton Historical Society

Primary artifact is the Greek Revival Union Meetinghouse, constructed in 1848, and for which we are in the process of applying to the National Register of Historic Places. Other items include a variety of small household and farm artifacts; a collection of antique schoolbooks and other period books; work of local artist Uriah Dyer; and the original postal window from the Appleton Village Post Office as well as the certificates of appointment of postmasters.
