Primary artifact is the Greek Revival Union Meetinghouse, constructed in 1848, and for which we are in the process of applying to the National Register of Historic Places. Other items include a variety of small household and farm artifacts; a collection of antique schoolbooks and other period books; work of local artist Uriah Dyer; and the original postal window from the Appleton Village Post Office as well as the certificates of appointment of postmasters. We have a collection of the historical and genealogical works of local historian Dr. Royce Miller, as well as manuscripts of historian Elmer Light. There is a collection of portraits and historic scenic photographs. We have a collection of genealogies of local families as well as diaries, account books, and histories of Appleton and adjacent towns. There are volumes of the Appleton Social News items from local papers. There are family papers and collections. One of the most significant of these is the Theodore and Nancy Brown Collection, which contains copies of documents and maps related to the early history of the midcoast area and to the history of Appleton. we do also have copies of a number of early local maps.

Meetings are held in summer at Appleton's 1848 Union Meetinghouse at 2875 Sennebec Road, along with occasional events such as our annual "Harvest of the Arts" in September each year. The meetinghouse is available for civic and private events.
