SARAH MILDRED LONG BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF CONSTRUCTION PHASE

Kittery, Maine (January 5th, 2015): The Maine Department of Transportation and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation officially launched the construction phase of the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge Replacement Project. The January 5th event featured dignitaries from Maine, New Hampshire and beyond including U.S. Senator Susan Collins, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen, Maine Governor Paul R.

Traffic Alert

TRAFFIC ALERT: Augusta/Waterville Area - Traffic is being detoured OFF I-95 northbound at exit 113 and back on at exit 120 (Sidney) due to a tractor trailer accident. It is anticipated the closure will extend through the evening commute. Please find an alternate route if possible.

***Travel Alert*

Maine State Troopers are on scene with a tractor trailer that has partially rolled over blocking the northbound breakdown and travel lane at mile 111 northbound on I-95. The crash is just south of the Bond Brook Bridge. The travel lane is closed and will be for some time as the truck is tangled in the guardrail.

MaineDOT Rolls Out Three Year Work Plan

Augusta ? On Monday, January 12, Governor Paul R. LePage and Maine Department of Transportation Commissioner David Bernhardt unveiled MaineDOT?s annual three year Work Plan for 2015-2016-2017 that describes all of the projects and activities that the department plans to undertake over the next three years. This includes major construction projects for all transportation modes; smaller construction and maintenance projects; plowing and summer road maintenance; bus, rail and ferry operations; sidewalks, trails and more.

***Travel Alert***

Travel in the northbound lanes of I-95 in Augusta will continue to be reduced to one lane due to yesterday's wreck of a tractor trailer truck which stayed in place overnight. Motorists can expect delays and backups between exits 109 and 112. Avoid those backups by taking the Western Ave. exit and finding alternate routes in Augusta.

TRAFFIC CHANGES FOR ROUTE 1 BYPASS IN KITTERY

Kittery ME ? Beginning at 5 P.M. on Thursday, January 22nd, there will be changes in the traffic patterns in Kittery due to construction of the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge Replacement Project.

A traffic light will be activated at the intersection of Bridge Street and the Route 1 Bypass which will coordinate with the traffic signal on the bridge. In addition, A section of Bridge Street through Oak Terrace will be closed to all but local traffic and will be used by construction crews accessing the Kittery side of the project.

Haverill Bridge in Rumford to be Posted to Lower Weight Limit

Rumford ? Haverill Bridge on River Street in Rumford has been posted for a lower load weight of 10 tons. Vehicles over this weight limit will need to use one of the other mill entrances for deliveries.

This posting will be in effect until MaineDOT concludes a bridge strengthening project later this year. Once the project is completed, the bridge will be able to handle all legal loads.
