Madawaska International Bridge Inspection

MADAWASKA - The Maine Department of Transportation will be conducting its annual inspection of the International Bridge in Madawaska next week. This inspection will involve daily traffic closures to ensure the safety of both the traveling public and the crews inspecting the bridge. Drivers should expect closures between 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. EST from Monday, June 15th through Friday, June 19th. The sidewalk will remain open during the inspection.

Route 202 Paving in Manchester

MANCHESTER - The Maine Department of Transportation is doing paving work and making safety improvements along part of Route 202 in Manchester. The work area begins just east of the Winthrop town line and extends east for a little more than one mile.

During the morning commute (6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.), there will be two open lanes of eastbound traffic and one open lane of westbound traffic. During the evening commute (3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.), there will be two open lanes of westbound traffic and one open lane of eastbound traffic. Lane closures will not exceed 2,500 feet.

Paving Work in Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties

PENOBSCOT AND PISCATAQUIS COUNTIES - The Maine Department of Transportation is doing paving work along parts of Route 7 in Dexter, Garland, and Dover-Foxcroft and along Route 222 from Stetson to Levant. One work area on Route 7 begins in Dexter, north of the intersection with Route 23, and extends north for nearly six miles, through Garland, ending in Dover-Foxcroft. Another work area is south of the intersection with Grove Street in Dover-Foxcroft. Work on Route 222 begins east of Cross Road in Stetson and extends six miles into Levant.

"Maine Ahead" Overnight Bridge Striping

KITTERY - Road crews will be striping lanes on the Piscataqua River (I-95) Bridge tomorrow night into Friday morning. Work on the southbound side will begin around 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Crews will move to the northbound side several hours later. Striping will be finished before sunrise on Friday. This work will require multiple lane closures and traffic pattern changes. The northbound striping work will involve the temporary closure of the Exit 7 on-ramp in Portsmouth. Traffic will be detoured to the Route 1 Bypass. Signs for this detour are already posted as a truck detour.

Roadside Vegetation Management

STATEWIDE - The Maine Department of Transportation is performing routine efforts to control brush along selected state roads using herbicides. These efforts will continue through the end of June. This process is part of MaineDOT's ongoing integrated approach, which also includes mowing and hand removal to control roadside trees.

Traffic Sensor Work on Route 27 in Boothbay Next Week

BOOTHBAY - The Maine Department of Transportation will be doing work on the count sensors on Route 27 (Wiscasset Road) in Boothbay on Wednesday, July 1st. The sensors are near the intersection of Route 27 and River Road. These sensors allow MaineDOT to accurately count the number of vehicles that use this highway throughout the year. Work will begin at 8:00 a.m. and should be done by the early afternoon. This project will involve lane closures on Route 27. Work will begin on the northbound side and end on the southbound side.

Route 9 Work in Gardiner and West Gardiner

KENNEBEC COUNTY - The Maine Department of Transportation is doing paving work and making improvements on Route 9 in Gardiner and West Gardiner. The project area begins near I-295 in West Gardiner and extends east for approximately three miles, ending near Robinson Street in Gardiner. Drivers should expect a single-lane traffic pattern between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The contractor on this project is Pike Industries out of Fairfield. The contract amount is $876,314. We expect this work to be finished by September 4th.

Bridge Work in Caribou

CARIBOU - The Maine Department of Transportation will be making improvements to the Otter Brook Bridge in Caribou. The bridge carries Route 1 (Van Buren Road) over Otter Brook. Crews will be replacing an old metal culvert with a new precast concrete box. Work will begin on June 29th and should be finished by September 7th. Drivers should expect a single-lane traffic pattern. The contractor on this project is Soderberg Construction out of Caribou. The contract price is $692,797.

Paving Work on Route 201 in Farmingdale

FARMINGDALE - The Maine Department of Transportation is doing paving work and making safety improvements on Route 201 in Farmingdale. The project area begins near the Gardiner town line and extends north for approximately 1.5 miles. Traffic may be reduced to one lane between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. We expect to finish this project by September 4th. The contractor on this work is Pike Industries out of Fairfield. The contract amount is $466,146.

Paving Work on Route 202 in Winthrop

WINTHROP - The Maine Department of Transportation will be performing paving work and making safety improvements on Route 202 in Winthrop. The project area begins south of Annabessacook Road and extends north for nearly a mile and a half. Work is expected to begin on July 6th and end on September 4th. Drivers should expect a single-lane traffic pattern during this work. The contractor on this project is Pike Industries out of Fairfield. The project cost is $522,896.
