Reeds Mill Church in rural Madrid Township, Franklin County, Maine, was built in 1892 as a small balloon-frame, gable-front church. At the local level, the building is architecturally significant under Criterion C for its type, period, and method of construction. The building was the first church built by the town’s established Baptist congregation which had previously met in private homes, schoolhouses, and other existing buildings. The small congregation built the simple building as the first and to this date the only church building in the town. The congregation is still actively using the building. The period of significance is the 1892 construction date of the building. Due to its ownership and use the building must meet Criteria Consideration A which it does as a religiously affiliated building which is nominated for its architectural significance.
